Created as a ‘Y’ shape supporting a roof of structural steel, the then new passenger terminal at DWC was constructed utilising a substructure built up of isolated footings with tie beams resting on improved soil of one-metre depth. It also incorporated columns of reinforced concrete, with long span steel roofing trusses.

The terminal is located near the Jebel Ali Port and Free Zone, which house several multinational factories. The construction of the terminal was part of the airport’s long-term visionary expansion project designed to serve the UAE’s passenger and cargo air transportation needs for many years to come.
